Pontoon Guard

It’s a protective strip designed specifically for pontoon boats, safeguarding the sides of the pontoon tubes from dents, scrapes, and abrasion caused by docks, and other boats.

The 3.5-inch wide polymer composite strip adheres to the tubes, absorbing impacts and abrasions. The reflective strip enhances nighttime visibility when illuminated by lights.

Yes, it’s a DIY product using 3M pressure-sensitive adhesive. The kit includes 2 pontoon guard pieces, instructions, a Scotch-Brite pad, burnishing tool, 3M primer 94, glove, and a warranty card. Installation takes about 1-2 hours. 

The Megaware PontoonGuard® kit comes in two sizes: a 32 ft kit (two 16 ft lengths) for pontoons up to 21 ft, and a 40 ft kit (two 20 ft lengths) for pontoons 22-25 ft.

Thoroughly wash the tubes to remove algae or oxidization. Remove any waxes or metal protectants, such as Sharkhide®, per manufacturer recommendations. Clean the area where the Megaware PontoonGuard® will be installed with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and ensure the surface is dry. Please see our application instructions for further instructions. 

Yes, you can apply the Megaware PontoonGuard® over powder coated tubes. Keep in mind, the 3M adhesive bond is only as good as the surface it is applied to, so any powder coating not properly bonded to the aluminum tube surface can cause the Pontoon Guard to fail. We recommend having any damaged areas repaired before installing the Megaware PontoonGuard®.
